One of every four imprisoned are in the US. That makes us the Least Free Country in the world. Even China with a Billion folk have half a million less of their citizens cooling their jets.
Doing More Harm Than Good
Modern prohibition was displayed in England 150 years ago. The upper class outlawed Gin for the lower class. That worked.
It followed that San Francisco would outlaw Opium. Only for Chinese.
When trouble came whole Races and Drugs could be blamed. Blacks and Cocaine. Messicans and Marijuana.
